Answer

Translink has already implemented a wide range of COVID-19 controls with a clear focus on the safety, health and well-being of both customers and staff. These measures have included social distancing measures, compulsory wearing of face masks, signage, guidance and controls across the entire public transport network

In anticipation for the easement in Covid-19 restrictions, the onset of favourable weather, and the return of large numbers of customers, Translink is planning a phased re-introduction of public transport services over the coming weeks and months in line with the Executive’s pathway to recovery. All services will be constantly monitored to mitigate, where possible, any overcrowding on popular routes, which will include the provision of standby vehicles to enhance capacity where needed. In addition, Translink continues to work with key stakeholders, including the PSNI Local Neighbourhood Teams, NI Environmental Agency and the joint Translink/PSNI Safe Transport Team to regularly review and update risk assessments, develop plans and make any necessary infrastructure improvements.
