Answer
NIEA records the outcomes of its enforcement actions by calendar, rather than financial, year. From January 2017 to date, the Agency has overseen the following outcomes to cases involving the unlicensed deposit of end of life tyres:
| Year | Outcome |
| 2017 | Closed no further action by PPS (summons not served) |
| 2017 | A £225 fine |
| 2019 | A Fixed Penalty Notice (£1000) paid by offender |
| 2020 | An FPN (£300) paid by offender |
| 2020 | An FPN (£300) paid by offender |
Over the same period, enforcement action outcomes in relation to the burning of tyres have resulted in one fine of £1,000 in November 2018. One further case involving the burning of tyres is currently being processed through the court system.
In addition, during the same period, officers issued 18 statutory notices under Article 27 of the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997 requiring the removal and lawful disposal of waste tyres by either the land owner or those responsible for the deposit. As these notices were complied with no further formal enforcement action was deemed necessary.
