Answer
Article 8 of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) sets minimum requirements in relation to electric vehicle charging infrastructure in new residential and new and existing non-residential buildings and following the British Government’s indication of its intention to comply with the Directive, transposition of the EPBD into legislation is a devolved responsibility.
Officials from my Department continue to fully engage with officials in the Department of Finance and the Department for Transport to determine the most effective means for implementing Article 8 of the Directive.
I remain committed to working in partnership with Executive colleagues and others across our islands to help deliver a change in the way we travel that also helps us to tackle the climate crisis.
