Answer
The delivery of the Coronavirus Travel Agents Support Scheme is now complete and has paid out £1.2 million in support to our travel agents who have faced losses as a result of the pandemic. There is currently no consideration being given to a further specific scheme for travel agents by TEO.
The Scheme was one element in a wider support package provided to businesses. An unprecedented range and volume of financial support has been provided throughout the Covid-19 period since March 2020, aimed at preventing businesses from closing and protecting as many jobs and livelihoods as possible.
The Department for the Economy has published a comprehensive Economic Recovery Action Plan, which the Executive has funded in full for this financial year. This Plan includes a number of interventions aimed at supporting the travel and tourism sector, such as the ‘Holiday at Home’ scheme.
