Answer
I am keen for my Department to assist with COVID-19 recovery, whereever possible. My Department is using its powers under The Street Works (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 to issue licences for the installation of parklets and similar structures to help with social distancing and economic recovery.
My officials have continued to work with applicants to resolve issues with applications. In order to make requirements clearer for applicants, my Department is currently updating its guidance in relation to street works licences for parklets and will re-issue it to Councils and BIDs once completed.
