Answer
Following the DfT consultation exercise, my understanding is that any changes in the Highway Code for GB are yet to be laid before the Houses of Parliament for consideration.
There is insufficient time to update Northern Ireland Highway Code within this electoral mandate. However, my Department will continue to monitor progress on changes in Britain.
Priority is being given to interventions to improve walking and cycling, which includes an investment of £13.5 million in departmental walking and cycling schemes and the part funding of Council greenways. These practical steps will have a positive impact on people’s ability to walk, wheel and cycle safely through a range of schemes across Northern Ireland.
