Answer
I welcome that the amended Climate Change (No.2) Bill has been passed by the Assembly so that we will no longer be the only part of these islands without climate change legislation. As Infrastructure Minister, I have implemented a range of policies and measures to support decarbonisation of the transport sector. This has included significant investment to encourage walking, wheeling and cycling and use of low emission public transport as the first choice mode of transport whenever possible. My officials are considering Clause 22 and how best we can build on ongoing work to further promote and facilitate active travel. This will need to be progressed in the context of the wider transport sectoral plans as required by the Bill (at Clause 21).
