Answer
The 2020-21 Budget provided £44 million of ring fenced New Decade New Approach funding for Transformation.
This was augmented by additional funding reprioritised by my Department through both recurrent and non-recurrent funding streams – and also including additional funding through the June monitoring process - to create a Transformation funding pot worth almost £94.4 million.
This funding met the inescapable costs associated with the existing Transformation programme which was originally established in 2018.
Transformation projects funded in 2020-21 support the entire HSC portfolio and include key priorities identified under New Decade, New Approach such as:
an additional 900 nursing and midwifery undergraduate places over three years
support for the development of a strategy, and implementation plan on cancer
further roll out of Multi-Disciplinary Teams in Primary Care.
