Answer
Although there is no specific strategy in place, it remains an aspiration of all bodies involved to end all new HIV cases at the earliest possible date. The latest available HIV surveillance data published by the PHA shows that in 2020 60 new HIV diagnoses were made in Northern Ireland (47 men and 13 women); a 5% decline from 63 in 2019 and a decline of 41% from a peak of 102 new HIV diagnoses reported in 2015. This is the third consecutive year that a decrease has been seen in new HIV diagnoses.
